  Research Background
1. Analysis on the mechanisms of acrosome reaction in mammalian spermatozoa
The main focus of the research is to identify and characterize the membrane-bound progesterone receptor in spermatozoa which is involved in acrosome reaction, and elucidate how signal mediated by this receptor is transduced via intracellular signaling pathway to induce acrosome reaction.
2. Mammalian sperm maturation in epididymis
The research is focused on the characterization of the changes in the proteins of spermatozoa   during epididymal maturational process of spermatozoa. The proteins which showed significant changes during maturational process are selected and characterized further employing the proteomics tools in relation to their physiological implication of fertilization.
3. Molecular characterization of the sperm proteases
The main interest of this project is to characterize the several acrosomal proteases which are presumed to play important roles during fertilization process. The research is focused on the analysis of the peptide sequences and cDNA sequences of the selected acrosomal proteases.
