 Research Background
Research in the laboratory of cellular immunology includes (1) investigation on the mechanism of cytokine action in the regulation of immune homeostasis in response to diverse stress signals and (2) development of anti-tumor strategies utilizing cytokine signal modulators such as SOCS. In particular, the signal cross-talk between T cell antigen receptor and cytokine receptor-mediated signaling pathways during T cell differentiation and counter regulation mechanisms of cytokines responsible for Th1 vs Th2 immune function are the subject of interest. Since the cytokine deregulation is often associated with immune dysfunction in diverse tissues including tumor-immune interfaces, these investigations will provide cellular and molecular basis for the development of novel strategies for treatment of allergy and cancer immunotherapy.
